Archbishop’s Message For New School Year

Most Reverend Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap., D.D. Metropolitan Archbishop of Agana
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!
As the 2010-2011 Catholic School academic year begins, I want to extend my blessings and best wishes for a successful year to every student, teacher, staff and administrator, and most especially the parents. To the parents, your continuing support by sending your children to Catholic Schools demonstrate that you want to give your children the best possible education in the formation of the Catholic Church.
The Catholic Schools offer an education centered on values that are important for every Christian. This allows the teachers and administrators to create an interactive setting between parents and students that is geared toward a long-term healthy character and scholastic development for all enrolled students. This important element of valuing the individual makes the Catholic Schools provide a caring, engaging, interactive, and academically challenging environment.
Moreover, I encourage every administrator, staff, and teacher in our Catholic Schools to make the effort to celebrate, teach, and live the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ should be instilled in every course and subject taught and the extra-curricular offerings. Also, parents and their enrolled children need to be included in the interaction. This is the most special quality of our school system where we build the character of our students so they become Catholics and Christians who grows to be the young men and women who live in the faith and contribute to the common good of God’s people.
I look forward to my school visits and engaging with the students, teachers, and administrators. To all the benefactors of the schools, I appreciate your support and give thanks for all the goodness that you provide on behalf of the Church. Through the intercession of Santa Marian Kamalen, Blessed Diego Luis de San Vitores, and Blessed Pedro Calungsod, let us pray for a successful and safe 2010-2011 academic school year and for administrators, staff, teachers, and students in Catholic Schools and the Parents as we work to live and proclaim the Gospel of Christ.
Servus tuus,
Most Rev. Anthony Sablan Apuron, OFM Cap., D.D.
